Trezor Hardware Device: First Time Startup

This guide outlines the critical steps for initializing your new Trezor hardware wallet. Security is paramount; please follow instructions carefully.

Step 1: Connection and Software

Connect your Trezor device to a computer using the provided USB cable. Your browser should prompt you to visit the official **Trezor Suite** application page. **Never** use third-party software.

Step 2: Firmware Installation

The Trezor Suite will detect your device. It will prompt you to install the latest official **firmware**. Confirm the installation process on both your computer screen and directly on the Trezor device. This is crucial for security.

Step 3: Creating a Wallet

Select the option to **Create New Wallet**. The device will then generate a unique set of cryptographic keys, making it ready for the next step: seed backup.

Step 4: Backup (The Recovery Seed)

The device will display your **Recovery Seed**—a list of 12, 18, or 24 words. Write these words down *exactly* in order on the provided physical backup card. Do not store this digitally. This seed is your *only* way to recover funds if the Trezor device is lost or damaged.

Step 5: Setting a PIN

Set a **PIN** (Personal Identification Number). The numbers will be randomized on the Trezor screen. You must input the corresponding location on your computer screen. **Memorize** this PIN, as it protects access to your wallet.

Step 6: Completion and Login

Your Trezor is now initialized, backed up, and protected by a PIN. You can now use the Trezor Suite to **Login** (connect) and manage your cryptocurrencies securely. Always disconnect the device after use.

**WARNING:** Your Recovery Seed is the master key. Treat it like cash and store it in a secure, hidden location. Anyone with access to your seed can access your funds.
